Types of Cannabis Seeds
There are three main types of weed seeds: regular, feminized, and autoflower. Regular seeds grow into male or female plants, feminized seeds grow into females, and autoflowers flower on age instead of light. Beyond that, seeds are also sorted by how they flower, what cannabinoid they produce, and their lineage. This guide covers each type and which one fits your grow. Every seed we sell is feminized.

Four Ways Cannabis Seeds Are Sorted
Most seed labels answer four separate questions. A single seed can be feminized, autoflowering, CBD dominant, and indica leaning all at once.
Regular or feminized
Regular seeds come from a male and female parent and grow into roughly half males. Only females produce buds, so males have to be found and pulled before they pollinate your crop.
Feminized seeds are bred so nearly every seed becomes female. That removes the guesswork and the wasted space.
Photoperiod or autoflower
Photoperiod plants flower when the light changes, as days shorten outdoors or when you switch indoor lights to 12 on, 12 off. Full season strains need a long outdoor season, while short season strains finish earlier.
Autoflowers carry ruderalis genetics and flower on age alone, finishing 9 to 12 weeks from seed. Hyperion Auto and Jack Herer Auto are two examples.
Type 1 through Type 4
Type 1 is THC dominant. Type 2 is balanced THC and CBD. Type 3 is CBD dominant, and Type 4 is CBG dominant.

Indica, sativa, or hybrid
Lineage mostly describes how a plant grows. Indica-leaning plants tend to stay shorter and bushier, while sativa-leaning plants stretch taller with longer flowering.

Why We Don't Sell Regular Seeds
Regular seeds matter to breeders, since you need males to make seeds of your own. For growing flower, they mean starting extra plants, watching for males as they show sex, and pulling about half of what you planted.
Feminized seeds skip that step. Every seed we sell is feminized, including our autoflowers and our CBD and CBG varieties.
Which Type Should You Grow?
Growing outdoors with a long season: feminized photoperiods give you the largest plants. Use our outdoor planting date tool to find your window.
Short season or small space: autoflowers finish on a fixed schedule and stay compact. New to growing? Either type works, and we can help you pick.
Want non-intoxicating flower: CBD or CBG seeds. In most states, growing them as hemp requires a license, so check your state's rules first.
