Cultivation Notes
Jack Herer Auto typically reaches about 28 to 35 inches tall and finishes in roughly 9 weeks, making it a compact choice even with its Sativa leaning background. Indoors it can produce up to 46 grams per sq ft, forming long, full buds with swollen calyx stacks, bright orange pistils, and a dense coating of trichomes that extends across the sugar leaves. The plant grows with multiple productive side branches that fill from top to bottom, and early pistil production gives a clear preview of its yield potential. As flowering progresses, the aroma develops into a layered mix of spice, fruit, and light mango citrus, especially noticeable when humidity and airflow are well managed.
Additional Info
Many people describe the overall experience as clear and approachable, with a bright initial lift that gradually settles into a steadier, more grounded feel. Its resin production and terpene intensity make it appealing for hash makers, while its manageable size makes it a good fit for growers working with limited space. Jack Herer Auto has earned multiple awards over the years and remains popular due to its combination of structure, aroma, and reliable performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Jack Herer Auto a Sativa, Indica, or Hybrid?
Sativa Leaning Hybrid
Is Jack Herer Auto an Autoflower or Photoperiod strain?
Jack Herer Auto is an Autoflower. Autoflower varieties flower automatically based on age, usually finishing 9 to 12 weeks from seed regardless of light schedule. No light timing required — they're ideal for new growers, fast turnarounds, and growing indoors year-round. Photoperiod varieties flower when the light schedule changes (typically 12 hours on / 12 hours off). They take longer but give you more control over plant size and yield.
How long does it take Jack Herer Auto to grow?
Autoflowers are the fastest path from seed to harvest. Most finish in 8 to 12 weeks total from germination, regardless of light schedule. Because they flower based on age rather than light changes, there's no separate vegetative phase to manage. Just plant, provide consistent light (18 to 20 hours a day works well), and let the plant do its thing. Check the strain details above for specific timing estimates, and visit our growing guide for tips on getting the most out of your grow.

How do I germinate Jack Herer Auto seeds?
Autoflowers need a slightly different approach because their roots are sensitive to transplanting. Start with a 24-hour soak in a hydrogen peroxide solution (1 part 3% H2O2 to 6 parts water) to boost germination. After soaking, plant the seed directly into its final container (3 to 5 gallon pot) about half an inch deep — do not use the paper towel method or start in a small pot. Spray the area around the seed to keep the soil moist, but do not soak the entire container. The key with autoflowers is to never transplant them.
