Cultivation Notes:
Acapulco Gold flowers in 60 to 70 days and reaches 39 to 43 inches indoors, while outdoor plants can stretch considerably taller at 59 to 79 inches given room to grow vegetatively. Indoor yields are exceptional at 1.9 to 2.2 oz/sq ft, and outdoor plants grown to full size can produce 3 lbs or more per plant at harvest in the second or third week of October. The Sativa structure benefits from topping and open canopy techniques to manage stretch and improve light penetration. Given the outdoor potential, it rewards growers who give it a long vegetative period and plenty of space.
Additional Info:
Growers commonly associate Acapulco Gold with an energizing, cerebral character that reflects its 70% Sativa lineage and Central American heritage. The flavor carries citrus, coffee, sweet, and woody notes that come together in a profile that has been associated with this name for decades. At 26% T#C it delivers potency alongside that expressive terpene presence.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Acapulco Gold a Sativa, Indica, or Hybrid?
Sativa
Is Acapulco Gold an Autoflower or Photoperiod strain?
Acapulco Gold is a Photoperiod strain. Photoperiod varieties flower when the light schedule changes (typically 12 hours on / 12 hours off). They take longer than autoflowers but give you more control over plant size and yield. Autoflower varieties flower automatically based on age, usually finishing 9 to 12 weeks from seed — no light timing required.
How long does it take Acapulco Gold to grow?
Photoperiod strains give you more control over timing, but they take longer overall — typically 3 to 5 months from seed to harvest. You'll spend 4 to 8 weeks in vegetative growth (where you control how big the plant gets), then switch to a 12/12 light schedule to trigger flowering, which takes another 7 to 10 weeks depending on the strain. Indoor growers have full control over when to flip, while outdoor harvests generally land between late September and mid-October. How do I germinate Acapulco Gold seeds?
We recommend the paper towel method for the most reliable results. Start with a 24-hour soak in a hydrogen peroxide solution (1 part 3% H2O2 to 6 parts water) to boost germination rates. After soaking, place your seeds between two damp paper towels inside a container or plastic bag, and keep them in a warm spot (around 75 to 80°F). Most seeds crack open within 24 to 72 hours. Once a taproot appears, transfer the seed gently into your growing medium about a quarter-inch deep. For a full walkthrough, check out our germination guide.
