Cultivation Notes
Skunk Auto stays compact, typically finishing between 31 and 39 inches, and can be harvested in roughly 8 to 10 weeks from seed. It grows with a natural Christmas tree structure and produces dense, resinous buds from top to bottom without requiring heavy training. A light defoliation during the stretch is all most growers do. Indoors, yields run 38 to 46 grams per sq ft under good light, and she performs especially well in a Sea of Green setup where her uniform canopy fills the space evenly. Outdoors, expect 2 to 5 oz per plant depending on conditions and container size. Her Skunk heritage gives her above-average resilience to temperature swings and humidity fluctuations, making her a solid option for outdoor growers in shorter seasons or unpredictable climates. Keep the light schedule at 18 to 20 hours indoors from start to finish.
Additional Info
People commonly report a relaxed, calming feeling that settles in gradually without feeling heavy or sedating. Its resin production and terpene density make it appealing for growers interested in extracts, while its compact size and forgiving nature make it a good fit for those working with limited space or just getting started. Skunk Auto has remained a staple in seed catalogs for decades and continues to deliver consistent results for both indoor and outdoor grows.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Skunk #1 Auto a Sativa, Indica, or Hybrid?
Indica Leaning Hybrid
Is Skunk #1 Auto an Autoflower or Photoperiod strain?
Skunk #1 Auto is an Autoflower. Autoflower varieties flower automatically based on age, usually finishing 9 to 12 weeks from seed regardless of light schedule. No light timing required — they're ideal for new growers, fast turnarounds, and growing indoors year-round. Photoperiod varieties flower when the light schedule changes (typically 12 hours on / 12 hours off). They take longer but give you more control over plant size and yield.
How long does it take Skunk #1 Auto to grow?
Autoflowers are the fastest path from seed to harvest. Most finish in 8 to 12 weeks total from germination, regardless of light schedule. Because they flower based on age rather than light changes, there's no separate vegetative phase to manage. Just plant, provide consistent light (18 to 20 hours a day works well), and let the plant do its thing. Check the strain details above for specific timing estimates, and visit our growing guide for tips on getting the most out of your grow.

How do I germinate Skunk #1 Auto seeds?
Autoflowers need a slightly different approach because their roots are sensitive to transplanting. Start with a 24-hour soak in a hydrogen peroxide solution (1 part 3% H2O2 to 6 parts water) to boost germination. After soaking, plant the seed directly into its final container (3 to 5 gallon pot) about half an inch deep — do not use the paper towel method or start in a small pot. Spray the area around the seed to keep the soil moist, but do not soak the entire container. The key with autoflowers is to never transplant them.
