Hawaii Cannabis Seeds: Common Questions

Yes. Cannabis seeds are federally legal hemp products under the 2018 Farm Bill and can be purchased and shipped to all 50 states including Hawaii. Triangle Hemp ships seeds directly to Hawaii customers. Note that home cultivation in Hawaii currently requires a valid 329 medical cannabis registration card — recreational home growing is not yet permitted under state law.
Yes. Triangle Hemp ships cannabis seeds to Hawaii customers. Orders are packaged discreetly and typically go out within 1-2 business days. Questions about your order? Text or call us M-F, 10-6 EST at (919) 410-6945.
Cannabis plants are either male or female. Only female plants produce the buds (flowers) you're growing for. Feminized seeds are bred to produce female plants almost exclusively, so you're not wasting space, time, or resources on males that need to be removed. All of the seeds we sell are feminized.
Photoperiod varieties flower in response to a change in light schedule. Outdoors, they begin flowering naturally as days shorten. Indoors, you trigger flowering by switching to a 12-hours-on/12-hours-off schedule. They typically take longer but give more control over plant size and yield.

Autoflower varieties flower automatically based on age, usually finishing 9-12 weeks from seed regardless of light schedule. Hawaii's near-constant day length year-round makes autoflowers a particularly practical outdoor choice, since photoperiod plants may struggle to trigger flowering naturally without supplemental lighting manipulation. Not sure which is right for you? See our Strain Selection Guide.
CBD (cannabidiol) and CBG (cannabigerol) are non-psychoactive compounds found naturally in the cannabis plant. People commonly report CBD as calming and supportive for sleep, stress, and everyday discomfort. CBG is often described as more clarifying, associated with focus and a lighter sense of ease. Both are widely used as alternatives to pharmaceutical options for mild anxiety, inflammation, and pain.

Many growers find that blending CBD or CBG varieties with THC varieties produces a more balanced experience. Growing your own gives you direct control over what goes into your plants. Check out our Strain Selection Guide to explore our hemp varieties.
No. Home cultivation in Hawaii requires a valid 329 medical cannabis registration card. Recreational home growing is not permitted under current state law. However, since HB 302 became law in 2025, Hawaii eliminated its specific list of qualifying conditions — any licensed physician, APRN, or hospice provider can now certify a patient if they determine cannabis would provide therapeutic benefit. Telehealth certifications are also now permitted, significantly improving access. Read the full Hawaii home grow law breakdown for details.
Registered patients may grow up to ten plants at their designated grow site. All ten count toward the limit regardless of maturity stage — seedlings, immature plants, and flowering plants all count equally. If two registered patients share the same designated grow site, they may collectively grow up to twenty plants. Read the full Hawaii home grow law breakdown for details.
Yes. You must designate your cultivation site when you register with the Hawaii Department of Health, and that address appears on your 329 card. You may only register one grow site, and plants may only be cultivated at that registered location. The site must be your own residence, your caregiver's residence, or another location you own or control.
Yes. Every plant must have a legible identification tag showing your 329 registration number and your card's expiration date at all times. This is a statutory requirement under HAR 11-160-31(b). Keep tags legible, replace them when your card is renewed, and ensure they are attached to each plant throughout your grow.
Hawaii's tropical climate is unique in this series — warm temperatures and high humidity year-round, with very little seasonal variation in day length. That near-constant photoperiod is the key challenge: photoperiod cannabis varieties depend on shortening days to trigger flowering, and Hawaii's days don't shorten dramatically enough to reliably trigger that transition outdoors without light manipulation. Autoflowering varieties are the most practical outdoor choice since they flower based on age rather than light schedule. Mold and mildew resistance is also critical given Hawaii's humidity. Browse autoflowering varieties or use our Strain Selection Guide to find the right fit.
Hawaii's year-round warmth means you can start seeds at virtually any time for indoor grows. For outdoor autoflowering grows, most Hawaii growers find the drier months between April and October more favorable, as the wetter winter months can increase mold pressure. Indoor grows with controlled humidity give you the most flexibility and control regardless of season. See our germination guide for step-by-step starting instructions.
