Cannabis plants are either male or female. Only female plants produce the buds (flowers) you're growing for. Feminized seeds are bred to produce female plants almost exclusively, so you're not wasting space, time, or resources on males that need to be removed. All of the seeds we sell are feminized.
Photoperiod varieties flower in response to a change in light schedule. Outdoors, they begin flowering naturally as days shorten in late summer. Indoors, you trigger flowering by switching to a 12-hours-on/12-hours-off schedule. They typically take longer to finish but give more control over plant size and yield.
Autoflower varieties flower automatically based on age, usually finishing 9-12 weeks from seed regardless of light schedule. With only two plants allowed in Maryland, faster-finishing autoflowers let you turn over more harvests per year from a small plant count, which many Maryland growers find worth the trade-off in size. Not sure which is right for you? See our Strain Selection Guide.

CBD (cannabidiol) and CBG (cannabigerol) are non-psychoactive compounds found naturally in the cannabis plant. People commonly report CBD as calming and supportive for sleep, stress, and everyday discomfort. CBG is often described as more clarifying, associated with focus and a lighter sense of ease. Both are widely used as alternatives to pharmaceutical options for mild anxiety, inflammation, and pain.
Many growers find that blending CBD or CBG varieties with THC varieties produces a more balanced experience. Growing your own gives you direct control over what goes into your plants. Check out our Strain Selection Guide to explore our hemp varieties.

Maryland allows two plants per household under Md. Code, Criminal Law § 5-601.2. The limit is a household cap and does not increase based on how many adults share the address — two adults still get two plants total, not two each. Registered medical cannabis patients may grow two additional plants for a household maximum of four. No registration or permit is required for recreational home cultivation. Read the full Maryland home grow law breakdown for details.
Yes. Outdoor cultivation is permitted as long as plants are not visible from public areas or neighboring properties without optical aids, and they are kept in a locked, enclosed space. A locked greenhouse or locked fenced enclosure satisfies both requirements. An open unfenced backyard does not. Maryland falls in Zones 6-7 with a solid outdoor season from late April through October. Use our zone map to find your planting dates. See our Maryland home grow laws guide for the full breakdown.
No. Maryland does not require any permit or registration for recreational home cultivation. If you rent, Maryland landlords can prohibit cultivation in lease agreements — review your lease before starting a grow. Read the full Maryland home grow law breakdown for complete details.
Maryland spans USDA Zones 5b-7b, with most of the state in Zones 6-7. The outdoor season runs roughly late April through October in the Piedmont and coastal regions. Maryland summers are warm and humid, so mold-resistant genetics are worth prioritizing for outdoor grows, particularly in the humid Chesapeake Bay region. With only two plants allowed, high-performing genetics matter more here than in higher-limit states. Short-season photoperiod varieties finishing in September and autoflowering varieties both work well. Enter your zip code on our zone map for your specific window, then browse our short-season varieties or autoflowering varieties.
Most Maryland outdoor growers start seeds indoors in late March to mid-April and transplant after the last frost, typically late April to early May. Short-season photoperiod varieties started in April can finish in late September, avoiding Maryland's humid late-October weather. With only two plants, indoor grows offer year-round harvests regardless of season and let you fully control your environment. Check your zip code on our zone map for specific frost dates, or see our germination guide for step-by-step starting instructions.
