Cultivation Notes:
Runtz flowers in 55 to 60 days and reaches 35 to 43 inches indoors and 59 to 71 inches outdoors. Indoor yields run 1.8 to 2.1 oz/sq ft, while outdoor plants can produce around 3+ lbs per plant at harvest in the third or fourth week of September. The structure is compact and vigorous with strong lateral branching and exceptional resin coverage that builds steadily through the final weeks of flower. It responds well to open canopy training to improve light distribution and airflow as the buds fill in.
Additional Info:
Growers commonly associate Runtz with a relaxed, euphoric, and uplifting character that reflects its balanced 50/50 genetics. The flavor carries sweet candy, tropical fruit, and diesel notes that are expressive from first open and hold up well through cure. At 29% T#C it sits at the top end of potency for photoperiod hybrids, and the resin output matches that number visually. The combination of short flower time, high yield potential, and a terpene profile that consistently delivers makes it one of the more well-rounded strains in the catalog.

Is Runtz an Autoflower or Photoperiod strain?
Runtz is a Photoperiod strain. Photoperiod varieties flower when the light schedule changes (typically 12 hours on / 12 hours off). They take longer than autoflowers but give you more control over plant size and yield. Autoflower varieties flower automatically based on age, usually finishing 9 to 12 weeks from seed — no light timing required.
How long does it take Runtz to grow?
Photoperiod strains give you more control over timing, but they take longer overall — typically 3 to 5 months from seed to harvest. You'll spend 4 to 8 weeks in vegetative growth (where you control how big the plant gets), then switch to a 12/12 light schedule to trigger flowering, which takes another 7 to 10 weeks depending on the strain. Indoor growers have full control over when to flip, while outdoor harvests generally land between late September and mid-October. How do I germinate Runtz seeds?
We recommend the paper towel method for the most reliable results. Start with a 24-hour soak in a hydrogen peroxide solution (1 part 3% H2O2 to 6 parts water) to boost germination rates. After soaking, place your seeds between two damp paper towels inside a container or plastic bag, and keep them in a warm spot (around 75 to 80°F). Most seeds crack open within 24 to 72 hours. Once a taproot appears, transfer the seed gently into your growing medium about a quarter-inch deep. For a full walkthrough, check out our germination guide.
