Cultivation Notes
A medium-height sativa with a naturally dense canopy that responds well to topping and basic training. The pink pistils that flush across the buds in late flower are a consistent trait and add real visual appeal. Flowering finishes in 7 to 8 weeks, which is fast for a sativa. This strain is best suited for outdoor growing, including shorter-season climates.

People frequently report an uplifting, focused experience, making it a popular choice for creative projects or productive afternoons. The pink pistil expression adds a unique visual element that most strains can’t match. A washable variety that produces sandy, gritty resin well-suited for making solventless hash.

Is Island Pine an Autoflower or Photoperiod strain?
Island Pine is a Photoperiod strain. Photoperiod varieties flower when the light schedule changes (typically 12 hours on / 12 hours off). They take longer than autoflowers but give you more control over plant size and yield. Autoflower varieties flower automatically based on age, usually finishing 9 to 12 weeks from seed — no light timing required.
How long does it take Island Pine to grow?
Photoperiod strains give you more control over timing, but they take longer overall — typically 3 to 5 months from seed to harvest. You'll spend 4 to 8 weeks in vegetative growth (where you control how big the plant gets), then switch to a 12/12 light schedule to trigger flowering, which takes another 7 to 10 weeks depending on the strain. Indoor growers have full control over when to flip, while outdoor harvests generally land between late September and mid-October. Check the strain details above for specific flowering time estimates, and visit our growing guide for a full walkthrough.

How do I germinate Island Pine seeds?
We recommend the paper towel method for the most reliable results. Start with a 24-hour soak in a hydrogen peroxide solution (1 part 3% H2O2 to 6 parts water) to boost germination rates. After soaking, place your seeds between two damp paper towels inside a container or plastic bag, and keep them in a warm spot (around 75 to 80°F). Most seeds crack open within 24 to 72 hours. Once a taproot appears, transfer the seed gently into your growing medium about a quarter-inch deep. For a full walkthrough, check out our germination guide.
